Is this progress?
Not a knee kerk reaction just been reflecting on where we are now. Ok we are are a bit more attractive on the eye we are still a terrible defensive side. Looks like another season of mid table at best (still worry it could be worse) and fuck all to play for.

So have we really moved forward?

Is our squad really any better?

Or is this our level?

If you don't think we've moved on from last season (and the season before that) then yes, I'd call this kneejerk.

Re: Is this progress?
David Moyes would not have done any worse.

Fact.

Re: Is this progress?
we have made progress, but you cant change the whole problem in 1 year, now need to out the deadwood

Re: Is this progress?
Not really moved forward at have we.
Our squad is fucking riddled with absolute dogshit, who couldn't give a fuck and are hideously overpaid.

Rather than always going for the one Sullivan marquee signing in the summer and two or three squad fillers we need to get about four or five good honest hard working players in that will put a decent shift in on a regular basis.

Tonights effort was disgusting.

Re: Is this progress?
We are a work in progress.

Like some have said there is plenty of deadwood in this squad and this game was an eye opener, good it happened before the window shuts.

Pellegrini will learn alot from this game, he has to that's for sure and I believe he will.

I expect top 10 this year and top 7 and a better cup run the next.

Patience.

Re: Is this progress?
Those of you that think we are a work in progress are either deluded or havent been watching West Ham for long we were fucking disgraceful tonight and if you plan on supporting West Ham for long you better get used to it

As long as we stick with shot like Antonio then no

The measure of progress is more than just the last game - whatever it is.

I have 60 years of watching us of which the first 20 were a real roller coaster with cup defeats like today but also a fair few trophies and on our day a great team.

I may be wrong ( often am) but think despite the inconsistency of old returning, if given time and a decent wedge to spend, Pellegrini can get us near that top 6 in the next couple of seasons. This season and 2 transfer windows will be about squad strengthening and filling some large holes in the team ( fulll backs and central midfield)..I hope to see the day where we have Noble, Snodgrass, Cresswell and Zab as back ups not first choice. We also need another striker even if Arnie stays.

Never ever laugh at other teams before its your turn.

At least Tottenham lost to a prem team.

We are still very average.

Was it someone on here the other day telling everyone Obiang ‘was classy’ or was I looking at some cunt off KUMB?

I thought the 8-10m was too good to turn down, if carroll gets a new deal then questions really need to be asked about what's going on

Re: Is this progress?
We are missing the general. Our defence is all over the place without him.

But yes, we are progressing, but can still be fucking awful.

Agree. AC's departure will be a signal of progression now.

Re: Is this progress?
alf, I know it's not exciting but we have to start at the back in the summer and buy two proper full backs that can actually defend and read a game. whether that means getting rid of fredericks and massuaku, so be it. ogbonna also needs replacing and maybe josh pask needs to be one of the back up CBs. there's no alternative to declan so that's another position where we need cover, with obiang finally going. lastly, the forwards and I'll hold my hands up and admit Alex V was correct in them all having to go, and younger hungrier options brought in. the saving on those four salaries should be close to £400k a week and be more than enough to revamp the squad

Sir Alf 1:29 Sun Jan 27
Re: Is this progress?
I agree.

Full backs and central midfield are priorities. But AC has to go too. EVen if he was fit and his younger self he does not fit the style/tactics now.

The sign of progress is the day we have the likes of Cresswell, Zab, Noble, Snoddy and Antonio as subs with better players as first choice.

Most not all of others like Carroll, Hernandez. Masuaku, Perez, Ogbonna, Reid, Sanchez even - need to be moved on.
